BARC has technology for producing flame-retardant cotton cloth

Do you want to produce clothes that are flame retardant? Bhabha Atomic Research Centre has developed a technology for it.

The technology is to produce a transparent liquid, which is based on ‘phosporous functionalised graphene quantum dot (pf-GOQ)’ technology. You take your cotton cloth and dip it into the liquid—the cloth then acquires flame-retardant property.

The pf-GOQ liquid is non-toxic and does not cause the fabric to lose its color. BARC has tested it successfully for temperatures up to 1,000 degrees C, at the National Fire Test Facility, IIT Kharaghpur

BARC offers this technology for a fee of Rs 200,000.
