Bosch team involved in developing IoT-enabled, soil sensors-based agriculture

Robert Bosch Engineering & Business Solutions along with the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, is engaged in the development of a cloud based decision support system that utilizes a framework of microwave satellite observations (soil moisture and crop variables) and a large mesh of IoT enabled soil sensors (moisture) to provide smart solution towards irrigation scheduling and irrigation water management.

The Rs 3.38-crore project is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture.

Big data generated, agronomist and scientist verified recommendations would benefit not only farmers but also provide an early warning real time indicator tool (Mobile app / web) to the regulators and government bodies in terms of monitoring soil moisture in a larger area (Karnataka state). Provisions and capabilities have already been accounted for rapidly scaling the project to a larger area after successful implementation of this pilot project.
